“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10, ESV).
As a disabled Veteran I was seeking to provide financially through various projects which required the gaining of approval, likes, and numbers from others. As long as I could remember, I was seeking to gain the approval of my family, friends, directors, subordinates, publishing companies, and so on. When I reached the age of 40 I realized that I can’t please everyone. Suddenly, as I am closing in on the age of 50 I realized that why am I trying to please anyone.
My need for approval should never be focused on people however my approval should be focused on God! I will never gain the blessings from the fruits of my labor focusing on people! It is guaranteed that I will receive the blessings and the favor upon the Lord through my sole purpose of God’s approval!
What happens when we focus on people for approval? We will eventually become disappointed and miserable. There are thousands and thousands of disappointed and miserable people who unwillingly or willingly desire for others to join them in the land of mental, emotional, and psychological disappointment. This incorrect focus of approval from people will definitely lead to self-destruction.
Once I focus only on God’s approval the rewards will arrive and when I say rewards it is the type of rewards that are unseen. The purpose of my life is to live it according to God’s plan and through God’s approval and the reward of eternity in heaven!
Focus on pleasing God! Focus on God’s approval! The blessings in your life will begin or continue to be received through God’s plan and not from others!
Blessings and love,
Joan Ellen Gandy
